Who can apply, and by when
UKRI published the Frontier AI: SME Champions, phase 1 opportunity on 5 October (it opened 1 October). UK-registered micro, small and medium-sized businesses can apply, as single applicants, for a share of up to £3.1 million for feasibility studies in frontier AI and machine learning "with a clear route to defensible scale-up." It closes at 11:00am UK time on 11 November 2026.
This is for SMEs building AI technology, not for firms adopting off-the-shelf tools.
