AI is moving into the tools people already use. 52% use employer-provided AI daily or weekly, up from 28%; 60% of leaders say AI created new roles; a communication gap between leaders and staff.

What HP reported

HP research across 15 countries, reported on Wednesday 7 October, found 52% of UK workers use employer-provided AI daily or weekly, up from 28% a year earlier, and 45% use AI agents in their work. 60% of UK business leaders said AI has created new roles or teams, and only 10% see it as mainly reducing roles.

But while 60% of leaders said their organisation clearly communicates AI's impact on roles, only 36% of workers agreed. Ruth Patterson, HP's UK and Ireland managing director, said "the next challenge is making sure it genuinely makes work better for people."

How the coverage framed the sample

This is a knowledge-worker survey from a technology vendor. It covers desk-based staff rather than trades or field work.

Coverage context

Regular workplace AI use in the UK sample has risen from 28% to 52% in a year, while leaders and staff still disagree on how clearly the impact on roles is explained.
