French AI company Mistral announced Voxtral 3 on 20 October: new speech-to-text and text-to-speech models plus a voice agent SDK that listens, reasons, calls tools and speaks in one real-time pipeline. Mistral says each turn completes in under a second, callers can interrupt, and agents can verify identity, check a bill or book an appointment.
It's available through Mistral's European, US and global API endpoints; phone (SIP) support is for enterprise customers at launch. The voice agent API is priced from $0.04 a minute. The models are in public preview.
Coverage context
Missed calls cost service businesses work. Voice agents that book appointments are getting cheaper and, with EU hosting, easier to square with UK GDPR, but they still need clear scripts, handover to a human and a record of what was said.
